Forbes Magazine Galleries, New York City
Location Description
This New York favorite displays an assortment of treasures that the late Malcolm S. Forbes, Sr. started collecting in the 1930s. Displays include 12,000 toy soldiers, 500 toy boats, and 12 Faberge Imperial Easter eggs. Located at the Forbes Magazine headquarters on Fifth Avenue, the galleries are free and open to the public.

Freedom Plaza
Location Description
Inlaid with parts of the L'Enfant Plan, this plaza was designed in 1980 by Robert Venturi, architect, and George Patton, landscape architect. Originally known as Western Plaza, it was renamed Freedom Plaza after Martin Luther King Jr. worked on his "I have a Dream" speech in the nearby Willard Hotel.

Georgetown Waterfront Park
Location Description
Founded in 1751 in honor of King George II, Georgetown quickly became a commercial and industrial hub. Likely due to its popularity, it was annexed to Washington in 1871. Today it is still a thriving neighborhood. One of the newest features is the Georgetown Waterfront Park, a beautiful 10-acre park along the Potomac River.

H Street Playhouse
Location Description
The building that became H Street Playhouse was built in 1928 by William Oshinsky. Among other ventures, the building has been used as an automobile showroom, furniture store, and a roller rink. Adele and Bruce Robey, publishers of "Voice of the Hill," purchased the building in 2001 with the sole purpose of converting it into a live theater venue.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts
Location Description
"A gigantic marble temple to music, dance, and drama," wrote the New York Times in its review of the Kennedy Center's grand opening. Since that date in 1971, the Kennedy Center has been the country's undisputed cultural hub. Located on 17 acres overlooking the Potomac River in Washington, D.C., the Kennedy Center is the United States' busiest arts facility, presenting more than 3,000 performances each year. Open daily.

From there, use the FREE Kennedy Center Show Shuttle (signs are towards the left as you exit the escalator). Alternatively, you can walk to the center from the station. It is also a seven minute walk via New Hampshire Ave. The shuttle departs every 15 minutes from 9:45 a.m.-midnight Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-midnight Saturdays, and noon-midnight Sundays and 4:00 p.m.-midnight on federal holidays.

Due to the heightened state of alert, no Metrobuses are currently allowed onto the Walter Reed Army Medical Center campus.

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport
Location Description
In 1938, President Franklin Roosevelt selected a site on a bend of the Potomac River at Gravelly Point for the new Washington National Airport. Gravelly Point already had historical significance, having been the site where Captain John Alexander built his "Abingdon" mansion in 1746. The mansion was later purchased by John Parke Custis, and became the birthplace of President George Washington's stepdaughter Eleanor Parke Custis. Open Daily.

Union Station
Location Description
When Union Station opened in 1907, it covered more ground than any building in the United States. Designed in the Beaux-Arts style, Union Station is still noted as one of the finest examples of this kind of architecture. Washburn Art Gallery, Gallaudet University
Location Description
Established in 1864, Gallaudet University is the only university in the world for deaf and hard of hearing students. The Washburn Arts Building is named for Cadwallader Washburn, an 1890 graduate and an artist who specialized in dry-point etching. Renovated in 2002, the building has expanded studio space and a gallery for exhibitions.
